Font Choices For Digipak

As a group we have been looking through different gothic fonts that would look effective for our digipak. Laurie looked in different places for these fonts, she used both microsoft word and the internet to locate them.
Pulse-
The first font that we decided we would consider is the font called Pulse. We think that this font looks really effective because it looks really unique compared to the others that we have been considering, this is because we felt the others are pretty plain and have been used a lot, whereas Pulse is something different that people rarely see on a digipak.

Digipak #1
The second font that we considered is Digipak #1, I feel personally that this font is quite alike to most gothic fonts that you see around. With this font I do like certain aspects of it, for example I like the way that certain letters are used within the font, such as the G, P and A. I like the finishing effect that these letters have.
Digipak #2
I didn't really like this font compared to the others, I don't feel like it would really stand out that way that we would prefer it to. I feel that this is because when we include this on our actual digipak it wont reall stand out from all of the images.

Unfortunate
For Unfortunate, I do like this font. But again I feel it is too plain for my digipak choices. I that this is becase it is a rather bland font, as much as it does suit my gothic format, I don't feel that it stands out as much as I'd appriciate it to.

.
The Final Font Choice
So after close consideration I decided that Pulse would be the font choice that I would use for my digipak, I have chosen this one because it took my eye from the outset and I feel that it would stand out the most for my digipak choices.

Magazine Advert Research

What is a magazine advert?
A magazine advertisement usually tends to be where the artist advertises their upcoming album. The imaging usually tends to follow the same or similar colour scheme as the digipak itself.

Once I had researched Digipaks and got some inspiration for that I then began to look into my second ancilory task, this being the magazine advertisement for my digipak. The first thing I did was looked into different examples of the magazine advertisements.

Ellie Goulding- Lights
The first thing that you notice by this music advertisement is the brightness of it, therefore you know instantly the genre of the album. Because of the use of the colour gold you would automatically assume that the genre of the artist would be 'pop', The advertisement and digipak both follow a strict style and theme, which is followed in the digipak itself. The colour scheme and image itself are all matching.

Delilah- From the Roots Up
This is the magazine advertisement and digipak cover for Delilah's 'From the Roots Up' album. This is the actual artist of the song that we have used within our music video. As you can see there is a clear contract between this magazine advertisement compared to Ellie Goulding's, which shows the clear contrast between their music. This is the style of magazine advertisement that I feel myself and my group would choose, I feel this because of the colour scheme that is used. It tends to suit the more Gothic genre that we are looking for, you can see this from the bland colours that are used, such as black, white and grey. I feel that my group and I will most probably use the same colour scheme as this, so that the audience are aware of the style of music that we have chosen.

Digipak Research

To contribute to our music video we need to complete two ancillary tasks to go along side it. The two tasks that we need to do are a magazine cover and a digipak.

What is a digipak?
A digipak is a type of CD packaging that can be made of different materials such as card stock or any other heavy paper/cardboard material. Digipaks tend to have a book like style or can eve have three parts, so one section of the packaging opens out to the right and the other to the left with the CD in the centre. Usually the section of the digipak that holds the CD is traditionally made of plastic which is simply attached to the paper/card background.

This is Delilah's digipak, who is the actual artist for our song. I feel is a good example of e kind Og digipak cover that my group and I could consider. For example I feel that the image that she has chosen is both simple and different. I feel like it would attract e kind of audience that we would be aiming for.

This is Rihanna's digipak, I also feel that this ind of packaging could be used as inspiration for my group because alike to Delilah's digipak it is both simple and different because of the images of Rihanna that are used.

I like both of these because of the colours that are used. I also like them because of the extreme close ups of both of the artists and the poses that they are pulling. I think it suits that kind of music that they make and the kind of audience that they attract.

Once I had looked into some examples of Digipaks, I then decided to take it one step further and began to actually look into some templates for the the digipak itself. Once I had done this I instantly had inspiration for the different aspects that I would include on my digipak.
